Hello World and welcome to my blog! Claire here, and I was born in the seventies, grow up in the eighties, danced through the nineties and since the millennium I have ran my own business.

I grew up in a hurley makers house and always had a keen interest in the business side of it, so when I was 15 years old I started using my dad’s leftover timber materials to make personalised signs for my friends and their friends. It was a big success and even to this day I have mothers telling me of the sign they still have in their kitchen! So Cool! The seed was sown!

So naturally I followed my dream and today I still make signs for a living. I do so with my husband Shane, who coincidently loves signs too! Shane is a character and anyone who knows him knows he’s a right man for the “Craic”!

We both look back growing up in Ireland with everyone else, taking for granted the unique Irish stuff that happened all around us. Drinking tae, square eyes from that feckin’ telly, a candle lit for the car test…..

We were reassured that all would be ok when we’d be half married!

And so we did! And then we set up Avokado & Co.

Between us, we both love what we call “Irishness” and wondered if we could offer the same Irish identity through novel Irish signs and unique gifts for the home, ones we would buy ourselves!
